Samsung expands soccer sponsorship in Africa

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has signed formal partnership with Samsung, designating the company as the organisation’s official electronics partner.

“We are proud to support football in Nigeria,” said Idorenyen Enang, Samsung Nigeria managing director. “Nigeria no doubt, is one of the football giants on the continent of Africa. Through our sponsorship, Samsung will connect with loyal and dedicated football fans and will ensure they enjoy the game.

“We look forward to working with NFF across a range of initiatives that we have planned. These initiatives are driven by commitment that works and we are committed to achieving what we set our mind to achieve. That is our heritage.”

Mike Itemuagbor, chairman of the NFF’s marketing consultant Pamodzi Nigeria, added, “This is a value-adding relationship that is bound to yield ample dividends to the company and further entrench their position as a leading light in electronics business in Nigeria. And by the calibre of companies associating with Nigerian football at the moment, Samsung are surely in the right mix.”

Although financial details of the three-year agreement were not released, a number of sources are reporting that the deal is worth US$1.5 million overall.
